Dog Adventure Gear

Exploring the great outdoors through hiking, biking and many other ways (sometimes even swimming and running) has always been one of my greatest passions. Not only do I love climbing up to the tallest of mountains, and racing back down them, I found camping out within the wilderness just as rewarding. Being completely surrounded by beautiful nature and never having the adventure end was a huge bonus for me. However, what was really missing was someone to share these experiences with. Sometimes wild camping can become lonely, and what would really make my adventures more fulfilling than they already are - I had to get an adventure buddy!

Two years on, I now have my Border Terrier Woody to join me everywhere I travel. He made every adventure even more rewarding, fun and definitely gave me extra challenges along the way. Woody enjoys the adventure just as much as I, being able to run free for miles, exploring new sights and smells is a dogs perfect dream. We also keep each other company during my nights camping out. The best part of owning your dog (apart from the obvious companionship and cuddles) is adventuring together - and having the perfect excuse to travel further and share your love for the great outdoors with a best friend who will love it just as much as you do. 

Why you must be prepared for any adventure

I would be lying if I said every adventure has run smoothly, there have been many challenges along the way when Woody became my travel buddy. It can suddenly become stressful of you haven’t got the essential gear for your pup throughout your big adventure, so being fully prepped and organised before you head up that mountain is a must. These items are always in my backpack when we’re off on an adventure, and should of course be In yours too to get the most out of your exploring - and you will soon want to be travelling all over the world with your dog! A secure dog collar and name tag is the obvious first pack, just incase your dog has decided to chase a squirrel a little too far out! This, along with a durable and strong lead is essential for your adventure and dog harnesses are amazing to give you ability to manage your dog and give them safety. Harnesses have been fantastic for myself and Woody, I am able to have extra control and help him over some tricky rocks with ease.

Importance of fuel & Hydration

These adventure essentials alongside food and water for the both of us has allowed us to travel all over the UK without worry - and all focus on our exploring adventure! Bringing Woody with me on hikes, mountain biking, camping and many more activities has ignited my love for the outdoors even further, and I recommend you bring your best four legged friend on your next trip.
